Sport Ireland, in conjunction with Cycling Ireland has teamed up with the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Dublin City Council, Healthy Ireland and Fingal County Council for the Great Dublin Bike Ride, which will be held on the 24th September in Dublin.  It is a bike ride for all abilities novice to expert. 60km or 100km routes.  This event will be a flagship event in Ireland for the European Week of Sport.

Event Info

On the 24 September 2017, up to 6,000 riders will set out from Smithfield Dublin to take part in the Great Dublin Bike Ride. The event will offer a 60km route for those looking for a slightly less strenuous day in the saddle and a challenging 100km route for experienced riders.

The event is not open to anyone under the age of 16.

Start Times

Your start pen will depend on your start number – BLUE (100k), GREEN (60k).

All participants will set off from Smithfield in waves as per your start number colour.

More detailed information on waves and load in time procedures will be shared with all participants in advance of the event.

Start Procedure

Participants will not be allowed access to their Start Pen before the time shown in the load in times. You must load into the start pen that corresponds to your start number – no exceptions. Detailed information will be shared with all participants in advance of the event.

Bike Park

There will be a secure participant bike park in the event village. Bikes are left at owner’s risk, but are checked in and checked out via a ticketing system and managed by event security.

Sign On / Number Collection

All participants must sign on/collect their numbers at the sign-on marquee between 16:00 and 20:00 on both Thursday 21st September and Friday 22nd September and between 12:00 and 16:00 on Saturday 23rd September, this will take place in Smithfield. There will be strictly no sign on/number collection outside of these times.

Participants Who Cannot Attend Sign-On

Sign-on will only take place as above. If you cannot attend at this time, you can nominate someone else to sign-on for you. Simply print out your confirmation email for the nominated person and they will be issued with your numbers etc.

Post Event

Immediately post-event, you will receive your medal, hydration and refreshments.
